You're reading: Yanukovych demands approval of rules of equal access to rail infrastructure facilities

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has demanded the approval by December 2012 of rules granting economic entities equal access to public railway infrastructure facilities, the press service of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia has said, with reference to a presidential decree.

The president by decree No. 187/2012 of March 12, 2012 approved the national action plan for 2012 "A Rich Society, a Competitive Economy, an Effective State" to implement the program of economic reforms in 2010-2014 and determined the major measures needed for the integrated reform of rail transport in the current year.

According to the document, it is planned by December 2012 to regulate the procedure for forming and ensuring the state funding of social orders for passenger transportation by rail.

In addition, the property of Ukrzaliznytsia, railway associations, enterprises, institutions and organizations will be inventoried by September 2012.

Acts for the establishment of a joint-stock company for public railway transport, a 100% stake of which will be owned by the state, should be issued by the Cabinet of Ministers seven months after the official publication of the law of Ukraine on the formation of a public joint-stock company for public railway transport, which was passed by the parliament on February 29 and has to be signed by the president.
