You're reading: Yanukovych denies ties to Crimean mansion

Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych has denied any involvement with the Crimean mansion under construction atop a cliffside in southern Crimea formerly owned by the state.

News website Ukrainska Pravda reported last week that the Ayia Cape estate is owned by a firm closely associated with Yanukovych and his family. According to the website’s investigation, the 3.5 hectare territory was privatized in 2007 and the mansion is being built for the use of the presidential family.

In a response to Kyiv Post request, the press service of the President’s administration denied the allegations and said that Ukrainska Pravda “presented false facts.”

“Viktor Yanukovych and members of his family have no connections with the construction mentioned, with the land plot, or to the firms that own the plot,” reads the comment.
