Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he hopes that Jordan will soon open its embassy in Kyiv.

Yanukovych said at a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday that Ukraine and Jordan had broad cultural and educational ties, as well as common views on the issues of international life. He also said there was huge untapped potential for cooperation in several areas, including the trade, economic and military-technical sectors.

"I am confident that all this is, in my opinion, creates a substantial basis for considering the issue of opening Jordan’s full-fledged diplomatic mission in Kyiv," Yanukovych said.

He expressed hope that this issue would be resolved after the King of Jordan’s visit to Ukraine.
