You're reading: Yanukovych orders creation of Male Polissia National Natural Park

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a decree on the creation of the Male Polissia National Natural Park.

According to the decree, which was published on the Web site of the head of state on Friday, the nature park is created “to preserve valuable natural complexes and historical and cultural sites in the eastern part of Male Polissia, which are of environmental, scientific, aesthetic, recreational and health significance.”

According to the decree, the park will be created in Slavutych and Iziaslav districts in Khmelnytsky region.

The territory of the national park includes of 8,763 hectares of state-owned land.

In particular, 2,764 hectares of land in constant use by the Iziaslav Forestry state enterprise are withdrawn from the land user and provided to the national natural park for constant use.

Another 5,999 hectares of state-owned land are passed to the park without withdrawal, of which 2,492 hectares of land belong to the Iziaslav Forestry state enterprise and 3,507 hectares to the Slavutych state enterprise.
