You're reading: Yanukovych orders to create group to study situation with freedom of speech

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has suggested Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka form a working group involving representatives of relevant government agencies to study the situation with the freedom of speech and information in Ukraine.

He gave such an order in connection with the appeal of Chief Editor of Ukrainska Pravda Internet publication Olena Prytula concerning the cases of obstructing the work of journalists, according to the official Web site of the president.

The working group should provide legal assessment for each of the cases listed by Prytula.

Yanukovych also instructed Pshonka to take relevant measures on the results of the inquiry and to report to him personally until July 1, 2011.
