MOSCOW – Ukraine will search for a model of cooperation with the Customs Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on May 15.

"We agreed to intensify our cooperation. All issues related to integration remain under consideration. We will search for a model of cooperation with the Customs Union," Yanukovych told Ukrainian reporters.

When asked about Ukraine’s position on its possible membership of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), Yanukovych said that had not changed.

"Nothing has changed yet. We remain observers at EurAsEC, the same as other countries. We are studying the current situation," Yanukovych said.

The Ukrainian president also said that his colleagues from the EurAsEC member-states have noticed positive changes in the organization.

"We don’t have any reason to disbelieve them. But you know the Ukrainian mentality – we have to see everything and touch it. This is why we are approaching these issues in such way, because they are complicated," he said.
