Ukraine is waiting to see the achievements of the Customs Union and continues negotiating possible ways of cooperation with it, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.

The president said this at an informal meeting in Crimea with the

Baltic Countries and Georgia, reads a posting on the president’s Web
site.

“We regularly discuss the creation of cooperation mechanisms with the Customs Union,” the president said.

He stressed that Ukraine wants to see the progress of that newly created union.

“Our approach to that issue is very pragmatic – as soon as we can see
the union’s achievements, we will take a decision,” Yanukovych said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president noted that cooperation with
the Customs Union in prioritized branches of economy is important to
the country. “Cooperation between Ukraine and the Customs Union in
[particular] sectors will, in fact, confirm the idea of the 3+1 format,
which we’ve discussed earlier,” Yanukovych said.

Customs Union members include Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
