Brussels - Ukrainian Primer Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk describes the signature of a political part of the Ukrainian-EU association agreement as historic both for Ukraine and for Europe and reaffirms that full EU membership is Ukraine's ultimate goal.

“My country is facing a number of economic, political and military challenges. By signing this agreement, we will demonstrate to the entire world that we are together, that Ukraine shares European values, and that we can be successful together,” Yatseniuk said before the signature ceremony during an EU summit in Brussels on March 21.

Yatseniuk reaffirmed that Ukraine’s ultimate goal is full membership in the EU and that he sees the Ukrainian leadership’s work in “making everything that the Ukrainian people have fought for to become real.”

He also welcomed the EU’s decision to take unilateral steps toward supporting the Ukrainian economy.
