The Russian authorities won't manage to realize their hopes in blaming the failure of the Minsk agreements on Ukraine, and Russia will have to implement them as a result, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

“Russia’s play is to blame Ukraine for the failure of the Minsk agreements. But it has no chance of succeeding,” Yatsenyuk said on July 15 at the Ukrainian forum organized by Chatham House during his visit to London.

“The Russian President’s fingerprints are on the Minsk agreements, thus he has to implement them,” Yatsenyuk said.

He noted the important role of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande in making the Minsk agreements work, adding “we have to act together and be united for them to be implemented.”

Yatsenyuk said that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s goal is to restore something similar to the Soviet Union and destroy the Ukrainians as a people and Ukraine as a state.

“What’s happening in Ukraine concerns not only us. It’s a global issue. Russia is a threat to global security and stability. A permanent member of the UN Security Council can’t act like that,” he said,

“We need a united and strong policy in regards to Russia. The only language Putin understand is force. So let’ s be strong,” Yatsenyuk said.
