Russia will in the next few days give Ukraine a detailed proposal regarding the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov has said.

“I think that now all this will be intensified. In the next few days
I’ll have to give a detailed proposal on this issue to Deputy Prime
Minister Oleksandr Vilkul,” he told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said funding would come from Russia’s Vnesheconombank during the
launch of this project, in particular, the development of project
documentation. Russia’s VTB also expressed its desire to finance the
project.

In addition, Zurabov noted that the possibility of building a gas
pipeline and electricity networks along the bridge was currently being
considered in order to meet the needs of Crimea.

“If a bridge is built, it’s also possible to use it to supply gas and energy to Crimea,” he said.

Zurabov said that the implementation of these projects depends on Crimean development prospects set out by the Ukrainian side.
