LONDON (AP) — News Corp. has chosen a senior British lawyer to chair its Management and Standards Committee created in the wake of the phone-hacking scandal.

Anthony Grabiner was appointed Monday to the new post. He will report to Joel Klein, a former U.S. assistant attorney general, who is an executive vice president of News Corp.

Klein said Grabiner’s appointment demonstrates "that we are serious about putting things right that have gone wrong in the past."

News Corp. said the Committee was authorized to cooperate fully with all investigations of the tabloid News of the World, and to conduct its own inquiries.
