WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Poland's road authorities say they are seeking contractors to finish a motorway for Euro 2012 after canceling a deal with a Chinese firm that was working too slow.

Deputy head of the national road authority, the GDDKiA, Andrzej Maciejewski, says on Tuesday that a quick tender or negotiations should single out a company to resume work in July on two segments of the A2 motorway from Warsaw to Lodz.

It should be ready next June for the tournament that Poland will co-host with Ukraine.

the GDDKiA said on Monday it was canceling a deal with China’s COVEC company, because it was not meeting the deadlines and was not paying Polish subcontractors.

COVEC says it wants to continue the work, on new terms, but Maciejewski described its new offer as vague.
