LONDON (AP) — London police have charged a protester who aimed a plate of shaving foam at Rupert Murdoch at a parliamentary hearing on the U.K. newspaper hacking scandal.

Police said Wednesday that 26-year-old Jonathan May-Bowles was charged with behavior causing harassment, alarm or distress in a public place under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

The media mogul was not injured in the incident, but his wife Wendi Deng jumped up and gave May-Bowles a sharp slap on the head.

May-Bowles is due to appear in City of Westminster Magistrates Court on July 29.

Media reports had identified him as Jonnie Marbles, a British comedian.
