The oldest member of Ukraine's parliament, Yaroslava Stetsko, has died at age 83 in Germany.

She died in the city of Munich, but the cause of death was not immediately known, according to the Our Ukraine bloc. Stetsko was the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which is part of Our Ukraine.

She was born Hanna Muzyka in the village of Romanivka, at that time part of Poland. In 1938, Stetsko joined the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, an underground group opposed to Soviet rule, according to Our Ukraine.

She was imprisoned by Nazi Germans in 1943, but the next year moved to Germany, where she married and remained until 1991, working as a journalist and as an anti-SAoviet campaigner.

Stetsko returned to Ukraine in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but was not able to run for parliament until 1998 after reclaiming her citizenship.

In 2000, she took over leadership of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which works against the influence of Russian language and culture in Ukraine.Memorial services are to be held Saturday in Kiev.
