You're reading: Belarus records 1,972 new COVID-19 cases, 9 deaths in past 24 hours

MINSK – The number of people diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection in Belarus has grown by 1,972 over the past 24 hours to reach 217,696 as of Jan. 13, the Belarusian Health Ministry said.

Belarus recorded 1,731 new cases of COVID-19 the day before.

“A total of 1,544 patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection who also suffered from a number of chronic diseases have died in the country since the infection began spreading (1,535 as of Jan. 12),” the Health Ministry said.

The number of patients earlier diagnosed with COVID-19 who have now recovered and been discharged from hospitals has reached 200,132, growing by 2,281 from 197,851 over the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

Belarus has conducted a total of 4,166,539 tests for COVID-19, including 22,512 tests over the past 24 hours alone, it said.
