You're reading: Homes of Belsat Polish TV channel’s journalists searched in Belarus

The homes of journalists from the Belsat Polish television channel were searched on July 16 morning, the unregistered Belarusian human rights center Viasna said in a statement.

“The police have been conducting searches for three consecutive days. They came to the home of Belsat journalist Igor Ilyash on the morning of July 16,” the Viasna Telegram channel said on July 16.

Ilyash is the husband of journalist Yekaterina Andreyeva sentenced for streaming a protest.

According to Viasna, the police are also searching the homes of Gleb Lobodenko, anchor of the Each of Us talk show and founder of the Mova Nanova courses, and journalists Galina Abakunchik, Yevgeny Merkis, Alexei Kairis, and Kristina Chernyavskaya,

As reported earlier, the homes of Viasna employees were searched on July 14. The police also searched the offices of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, the Belarusian Popular Front, the Beroc Economic Research Center, the Gender Perspectives human rights organization, the For Freedom movement, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, and the Union of Belarusian Writers.

On July 15, the police searched the offices of the Tell the Truth civil association, the Civil Forum and ACT organizations, and Tavarystvo Belaruskai Movy.
