MINSK – Humanitarian cargo with a Chinese-made vaccine for coronavirus has arrived in Belarus, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

“An Ilyushin Il-76 MD military transport plane with humanitarian aid from the People’s Republic of China has landed at Machulishchy Airport. The airplane has brought the Chinese-made coronavirus vaccine,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry said in a statement on May 18.

The Belarusian Health Ministry has said, in turn, that “Health Minister Dmitry Pinevich and Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong signed official documents today on the transfer of the vaccine.”

China’s Sinopharm designed the vaccine for COVID-19 that arrived in Minsk today, the ministry said.

“The military transport plane has 300,000 doses of the vaccine on board, a quantity sufficient for 150,000 people. The vaccines will next be transferred to a storage facility of Belfarmatsiya Republican Unitary Enterprise to be distributed further to the regions,” the Health Ministry said.
