MINSK – The situation surrounding the spread of coronavirus in Belarus has stabilized, Belarusian Health Minister Dmitry Pinevich told reporters on Feb. 3.
“The COVID-19 situation in Belarus has stabilized. We state the stabilization of the epidemic process in Belarus and Russia. It is clear that Belarus is a much smaller country, but the epidemic process is less intensive in all regions of the country,” Pinevich said. His commentary was published on the website of the Health Ministry.
The interaction with Russia on the coronavirus vaccine was discussed at a meeting in the Belarusian government with a delegation of Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) led by the head of the service and the Russian chief state sanitary physician, Anna Popova. Pinevich clarified that not only Sputnik V, but also other Russian developments were discussed.
Additionally, they discussed the interaction between Belarus and Russia when crossing the border using the Traveling without COVID-19 application, as well as bilateral cooperation on the platform of the World Health Organization (WHO) and in other international bodies.
As reported, Belarus recorded 251,705 cases of people diagnosed with coronavirus as of Feb. 3.
The daily growth amounted to 1,711 infections over the past day against 699 the previous day. The total coronavirus death toll reached 1,746 patients (1,737 as of Feb. 2) in Belarus.
