CHISINAU – A vast majority of Moldovan citizens support integration with the European Union, the Date Inteligente company said at a press conference in Chisinau on June 1 as it was presenting results of a May survey.

“Moldova’s accession to the European Union is supported by 67.3% of the respondents, while 29.9% of the respondents call for Moldova’s entry into NATO, and 41.6% favor unification with Romania,” the company said.

According to the pollster, 67.9% do not support the idea of reinstating the former Soviet Union and reintegrating Moldova into it, while 28.5% feel positive about that.

Some 69.7% of the respondents do not support the idea of recognizing the self-proclaimed Transdniestrian republic, and 23.2% think the opposite.

Date Inteligente polled 1,227 persons on May 19-28.
