Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by a number of scientists, Sergei Yerofeyev, a sociologist and professor at U.S.-based Rutgers University, said.

“A number of professors from acclaimed universities who study Russia have nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. The nomination process was initiated by scientists, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be followed by statesmen or representatives of international organizations,” Yerofeyev said on Facebook.
