Russia has registered 23,120 new cases of COVID-19 and 794 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
“Over the past day, 23,120 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,017 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (8.7%),” the headquarters said.
In the past 24 hours, 794 patients died from COVID-19, with the highest figure seen in Moscow (68) – the daily coronavirus death toll in the city has dropped below 70 for the first time since mid-June. In St. Petersburg the daily death toll stood at 45, and in the Krasnodar Territory at 33. Meanwhile, 20,370 patients have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery.
According to the headquarters, Moscow reported 3,227 new cases of COVID-19 and 4,477 recoveries on Wednesday.
There were 1,911 new infections in St. Petersburg and 1,287 in the Moscow region.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia, it has registered a total of 6,379,904 cases of COVID-19, including 162,509 deaths and 5,700,212 recoveries.
The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia has performed more than 167.4 million COVID-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 489,000 over the past day. As many as 1,258,236 people remain under medical observation.
