To honor the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, Kyiv's Motherland sculpture is decorated with poppy wreath. The accessory appeared early in the morning of May 8.

The Motherland Monument is a warlike young woman who stands on the right bank of
Dnipro River with shield and sword in her hands held high. The statue is 102
meters high and takes four place in the world’s top 10 tallest
statues. Motherland trails only the 120-meter Ushiku Daibutsu
Budda statue in Japan, the 108 meter East Asian deity of mercy Guanyin
in China and the 103-meter Huangdi and Yandi China Emperors.

“Mustang decorated the Motherland with
the red puppy wreath. Mustang Wanted: We have to remember those who died and
those who are alive. Ukrainian president: “Thank you for this,” Poroshenko’s
press service wrote on Facebook on May 8.

This is not
the first dress up of the statue on holidays. In 2014 on June 28, the Day of Constitution in Ukraine, the monument was illuminated in blue and yellow, the
colors of Ukrainian flag.
