One of the most famous Ukrainian folk choirs is giving a new performance in Kyiv. Founded in 1943, the choir will perform Ukrainian folk and ethnic songs, and folk dances. Seating is limited.

Motomichi, Nakamura

Linoleum Animation Festival

The annual festival takes place for the 10th time in Kyiv. The four-day event features screenings of modern Ukrainian and foreign animators that will compete for prizes in two categories: the national and global competition. Japanese animator Motomichi Nakamura is the star guest.

Mariupol is focus of Architecture Ukraine exhibition

Mariupol, the Azov Sea coastal city in Donetsk Oblast, is the focus of a project by 15 architects from Europe and the United States. Mariupol has been a target of Russia’s war against Ukraine. Izolaytsiya, an art foundation that relocated from Russian-occupied Donetsk to Kyiv, is organizing the project. The display offers to explore Mariupol through installations, sketches and prototypes.

Respublika Music Festival

The summer’s last music fest is taking place in Kamyanets-Podilsky. Some of the best Ukrainian performers are on hand, including Onuka, the band that mixes electronic and folk music, ethnic band DakhaBrakha, and punk rockers Brutto.

To get there, take train No. 769 or the overnight train No. 139 (Hr 130). Another option are the buses departing from Kyiv Central Railway Station (appr. Hr 175).

White Nights

White Nights is a new form of entertainment from the organizers of the popular Street Food Festivals. This overnight event takes place at Platforma, a factory that was remodeled into art space. Attractions include shows from local bands and DJs, 40 various food stands, and movie screenings.

Therapy Sessions

A loud literally and figuratively – electronic music party kicks off the first weekend of autumn. DJs Counterstrike (South Africa), Forbidden Society (Czech Republic), Cooh (Bulgaria) and several Ukrainian DJs team up for one night full of drum ‘n’ bass and darkside music.
