Outdoor cinemas and drive-in movie theaters are gaining popularity in Kyiv. Here are some of the best ones to try out (all for free):

Kyiv’s cycle track
The organizers want to popularize the bicycle culture in Ukraine and to screen movies. They choose films based on their own preferences and suggestions. Kyiv’s cycle track shows movies in the original language with subtitles. Their second screening gathered up to 250 people. Bonus: You can bring your own food and something to sit on. Organizers are working to launch a food court.

KMArt Yard
The project was created by graduates of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. They reconstructed a patio at the academy into an art space in three months. It was opened during the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the university on June 27. The organizers have already screened the iconic sitcom “Friends” and had a Harry Potter movie night.
Where: 9 Illinska St.
When: The organizers plan to hold cinema screenings every Monday

Beliye Kacheli (White Swings)
White Swings positions itself as a lounge bar and an outdoor cinema theater. It is located in Pushkin Park near Shuliavska metro station. One can try cucumber, ginger, lavender or strawberry drinks, cocktails and burgers there.

Yuzhniy bereg Kieva (South Shore of Kyiv)
This is located at the beloved former Angar beach club site. One can not only party here, but also attend lectures and cinema screening. Starry nights and Dnipro River will create a great atmosphere. The movies go by decades and the next ones are from the 70s and 80s. One can send the organizers suggestions for a film screening list. A bonus is free blankets and deck chairs.

Los Solomas
Los Solomas aims to unite active citizens of Kyiv’s Solomyansky District. They hang the screen on a coffee bus and people can watch movies and suggest what they want to watch on the big screen. The number of chairs are limited, so it is better bring something to sit on.
Where: Solomyanska Square
When: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (when it’s not raining) at 9:30 p.m
