You're reading: Astrologist says she can predict Ukraine’s future

KHARKIV, Ukraine – Amidst the turmoil caused by Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula, there is at least one Ukrainian who doesn’t fear a potential war. Astrologist Olena Maksymova has checked the stars and found that “there will be no war in Ukraine,” although the state borders may change.

Astrologist from Kharkiv, Maksymova became famous after her 2010 prediction of unrest coming at the end of 2013 came true. Another famous prediction of Maksymova – that overthrown President Viktor Yanukovych would stay in power into 2015 – turned out to be a mistake.

“I admit I made a mistake, but the branch of astrology that deals with future of the countries and continents is very complicated and I cannot avoid mistakes yet,” Maksymova confesses, adding that predicting future of person is much easier and 90 percent of the personal predictions come true.
The astrologist also admits she didn’t see the first blood at EuroMaidan and the beginning of Russian intervention.

“Though I did see a lot of aggression on the dates when the first people died and Russians intervened, and I also predicted the shooting on Feb. 18 and 20,” she says.

Now Maksymova, a EuroMaidan supporter and astrologist with 20 years of experience, tries to find answers to the questions that concern the whole country.

“I rarely do something simply out of curiosity because every answer to every question takes hours, but I am also Ukrainian and just couldn’t stay indifferent about what is going on in our country,” the astrologist said.

Maksymova says that the history of the current Ukraine has started in the time when the stars’ positions were very unfortunate.

“Something should change in the country, probably even country’s border or state political system, so that the new star map of the country could be created,” she says, looking at a complicated scheme of circles, numbers, dots and lines on a big computer screen.

According to the astrologist, the map will change to better if the changes happen in the next six months. It is likely to happen, because the Maidan protests are not likely to end soon, the astrologist said.
“I see people protesting at Maidan in August,” Maksymova said.

However, Kharkiv astrologist says she is much more confident about personal predictions.
“Making predictions for political leaders is a bit different than for other people, because you have to take country’s map into account and usually don’t know the exact time of their birth, but generally I think I can tell who is who,” Maksymova says.

According to the stars, Yulia Tymoshenko will not become Ukraine’s president.
“Her highest position is the prime minister. She made a mistake when decided to run for president,” Maksymova concluded from Tymoshenko’s astrological profile.

UDAR party leader and former boxing champion Vitali Klitschko also has small chances to become president, according to Maksymova.

“He is a good an honest fighter, but he lacks strategic thinking and will always depend on some supervisor’s estimation of his decisions,” she said and added that Ukraine’s former president Viktor Yanukovych had exactly the same problem.

According to Maksymova’s star maps, Svoboda Party leader Oleh Tyahnybok is a good lawmaker and should continue working within parliament.

Prime Minister and Batkivschyna party leader Arseniy Yatseniuk is just at the right place, too.
“He is very good in fulfilling the determined tasks and managing the government is what he can do best,” the astrologist explained.

Maksymova sees businessman and lawmaker Petro Poroshenko as the one with the best chances to become president, as he “seems to have enough qualities” for this post.

“His personal star map correlates harmonically with the country’s map,” she said. Some agree with Maksymova’s evaluations.

Children’s
writer and active EuroMaidan supporter Halyna Kyrpa says she’s been following
Maksymova’s predictions for the last three years but got disappointed when she
predicted Yanukovych will be in the office up to 2015.

Even
so, Kyrpa says she will probably consider Maksymova’s comclusions about
opposition leaders’ qualities when making her vote on presidential elections on May 25.

“I
actually agree with the stars in that case, and many other people must agree
too, I guess. Those are pretty obvious things. Good to know that stars support
people’s conclusions on opposition leaders,” she said, laughing.
