Russia’s Channel One television has rejected the proposal of the European Broadcasting Union that Yulia Samoilova participate in Eurovision in Kyiv remotely, and says that the organizers were to ensure the singer’s participation in accordance with the rules.

“We consider the proposal of remote participation to be strange and are rejecting it because it certainly contradicts the very point of the event, whose rigorous rule is to perform live on Eurovision stage,” Channel One said an statement announced on Vremya program on March 23.
