A French DJ Pedro Winter, who performs under the stage name Busy P, released his new music video which features Kyiv’s clubs and underground.

The video to Winter’s latest single “Genie,” recorded together with U.S. singer Mayer Hawthorne, features a young woman who sleepwalks along the Kyiv streets dancing and dreaming of herself being at a party.

The woman, played by a Kyiv-living model Anna Tykhomyrova, even enters the metro and pole-dances in a train.

Winter is famous not only for his tracks but as a manager of the renowned band Daft Punk.  Winter met Daft Punk back in 1996 when he was a law student and the duo asked him to be their manager. In 2008 he stopped managing Daft Punk to focus on his label and music career.

Winter owns a music label Ed Banger Records and manages artists who are signed by the label.

Winter revealed that the crew didn’t have a permission from the metro administration to film in the metro, and eventually police stopped the shootings. However, they still got enough footage to make a video.

French filmmaker and photographer Arnaud Deroudilhe directed the video. Deroudilhe said to the Dazed website that his own sleepwalking experience inspired him to made this music video.

“My girlfriend caught me sleepwalking in only my boxers around 5 a.m. once,” Deroudilhe said. “Thankfully I got no further than the apartment building hallway, but we had fun the next day imagining what could have happened had I made it to the street.”

Winter and Deroudilhe also said they had to shoot the music video over three winter days in Kyiv, when temperatures were below zero, but Tykhomyrova, who most of the video wears only panties, slippers and a sweatshirt, never complained about the weather.

Later, Winter found a video on YouTube from the underground shootings posted by one of the passengers who was on the same train.

“A lovely girl sleepwalking in the streets of Kyiv is romantic and poetic – that’s all I needed for this video,” Winter said to Dazed.
