Grandmaster Flash

A pioneer of hip-hop DJing and mixing, Grandmaster Flash, will perform in Kyiv for the first time. Grandmaster Flash perfected, if not invented, standard DJing techniques, like scratching and punch phrasing. His band Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are credited for coining the term hip-hop itself, and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In Kyiv, Grandmaster Flash will present his “Hip-Hop, People, Places & Things” program that reminisces over the history of hip-hop and block parties since the 1970s.

Cape Cod

Kyiv-based electronic music artist Cape Cod will hit the stage of Atlas concert hall, on Dec. 12. Maksym Sikalenko, known as Cape Cod, together with guitar player Artem Dudko, will present his second electronic music album “Echoes” released in September, 2018. “Echoes” features 14 songs that combine electronic music with blues, neo jazz, breakbeat, and other music genres, as well as recorded vocals. For this album, Sikalenko cooperated with such foreign vocalists as Richard Farrell, Leah Vee and Mickey Shiloh. Cape Cod will perform at Atlas in Kyiv, on Dec.12, 2018.

Christmas Kurazh Bazar

The annual Christmas Kurazh Bazar welcomes everybody who wants to help raise money to buy presents for children who are getting treatment in Kyiv hospitals. Christmas Kurazh Bazar features a charity market of presents, decor, food and drinks, and will be held at VDNH in Kyiv, on Dec. 8-9. Christmas Kurazh Bazar’s visitors will have a chance to watch “Harry Potter” and “Home Alone”, as well as to try mulled wine, cocoa and other traditional Christmas treats. The entrance is free for children under 12, people with disabilities, veterans, pregnant women, retirees and those who have a birthday on one of the market’s days.

‘100 Films in 100 Minutes’

A 100-minute burst of creativity from the Kyiv International Short Film Festival comes back to theaters in Kyiv. This experimental project brings together people from around the world to give a short but strong message in their under-100-seconds films. It has no restrictions of the filmmaker’s age, film genre or country of production. The aim of “100 Films in 100 minutes” is to discover the non-classic types of short films, such as mobile films, experimental and extreme shorts.
