‘The Shape of Water’

Set in the United States in the middle of the Cold War, this new fantasy drama revolves around a woman who works at a secret government laboratory as a cleaner. Numb and lonely, the woman meets an unusual amphibious creature that lives in one of the laboratory’s pools, and falls in love with it. When scientists decide to kill the creature, the woman makes a daring decision to save it. Directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, the movie won the Best Director and the Best Original Score at the 75th Golden Globe Awards this January. The screenings will be in English.

Music and Movie Performance, ‘Turksib’

The British Council in Ukraine in partnership with Dovzhenko Center arranges the screening of the black and white documentary “Turksib” by Ukrainian director Viktor Turin. Shot back in 1929, the film features the construction of a Soviet railway line. The screening of the movie will be accompanied live by the British indie band Bronnt Industries Kapital.

French DJ, producer and songwriter became famous in 2009 with hits like “When Love Takes Over,” “Sexy Bitch” and “Memories”. He is also known as the grandfather of electronic dance music, working in techno, house, dubstep and trance music styles. Guetta comes to Kyiv with hits like “Turn Me On,” “Hey Mama” and “Getting Over You.”

Konstantin Kolesnichenko Quartet

This band has existed for less than three years, yet in this relatively short period Kolisnichenko Quartet has managed to enter the London BBC charts with their song Hypnotized. The band emerged at the Lviv Jazz Festival and now performs in Kyiv concert halls and travels abroad with their 2016 album “Minor Differences.”

Successors

Nebo art gallery will exhibit works of students of National Academy of Arts and Architecture working in graphics. “Successors” is an annual exhibition of young Ukrainian artists, many of whom are haveing their work exhibited for the first time.
