X Ambassadors

Indie rock band X Ambassadors visits Ukraine for the first time. The band is known for bringing up social issues and advocating for people with disabilities in their songs. In fact, the band’s keyboard player Casey Harris is visually impaired and called himself “a voice of people with disabilities.”

Docudays film festival

The annual documentary film festival about human rights Docudays kicks off in Kyiv. The festival will feature over 70 films in both competition and non-competition programs, including the Oscar-nominated documentary covering the war in Syria, “Last Men in Aleppo,” a Hungarian film about a woman who has been a slave for 10 years “A Woman Captured,” and “Ex Libris: The New York Public Library,” featuring the life of the New York Public Library. All screenings will be with English subtitles. The festival will also hold exhibitions, morning talks, panel discussions, and Q&As with directors.

Identity, Interrupted

Artist Ola Rondiak was born and grew up in the United States, but in 1995, at the age of 29, she moved to Ukraine with her husband, Petro Rondiak. She has already had a number of exhibitions in the United States and Europe. Her upcoming exhibition “Identity, Interrupted” presents reflections on the identity challenges she has experienced while living in Ukraine.

‘Manhattan Night’

This mystery drama ,based on a crime novel by the U.S. writer Colin Harrison, will be screened in English. Starring Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, the film tells the story of a daily newspaper columnist, “an endangered species,” as he calls himself, who has an affair with a mysterious woman while investigating her husband’s death. Written and directed by Brian DeCubellis, the movie also stars Yvonne Strahovski, Campbell Scott and Jennifer Beals.
