Comic Con Ukraine

A month after it won a lawsuit over naming against Kyiv Comic Con, Comic Con Ukraine will again try to prove that it’s the largest festival of popular culture, comics and cosplay in the country. Like last year, the event will welcome visitors, fans and cosplayers at the Platform Art Factory, a vast and artsy open-air venue in Kyiv’s outskirts. The organizers say the festival will become even bigger, with a life-size model of X-Wing Starfighter in a Star Wars zone, Dog Cosplay Contest for the cutest of superheroes and the Live Action Role Play zone, a fantasy world where young and old can play a real-life quest. Human cosplayers will compete at the first Ukrainian qualifiers for the World Cosplay Summit in Japan. Traditionally, the event will have a geek-market, live music, lectures, board games and themed photo zones. The star guests this year are Christopher Lloyd (Doc from ‘Back to The Future’ film series), Danny Trejo (‘Machete’ film series) and John Romero, a developer who pioneered the first-person shooter video games with classics like ‘Doom’ and ‘Wolfenstein.’
