White Lies

The dark-edged trio of Londoners will perform their signature post-punk with the icy baritone in Kyiv’s Bel Etage Music Hall. White Lies formed in 2008 out of a “weekend project” band Fear of Flying, when the group’s sound became darker, reflecting the maturity of the members. The band rode the wave of the post-punk revival of the 2000s, taking cues from the late 1970s U.K. post-punk scene – the bands like Joy Division and The Teardrop Explodes. White Lies has a somber group persona and a gloomy repertoire, with songs like “Death” and murder ballad “Unfinished Business.” In their current tour, White Lies perform as a five-piece, presenting their new album “Five” – post-punk enlivened with “new color and adventure.”

White Lies. Bel Etage (16A Shota Rustaveli St.) Sept. 29. 7 p.m. Hr 1,090-2,800
