The official Eurovision Song Contest fan zone opened in Kyiv on May 3 inside the telecenter of the UA Pershyi television channel.

This year, Eurovision will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 8-12. The country received the right to host the event after the Portuguese singer Salvador Sobral won the previous song contest, held in Ukraine in 2017. Ukraine’s 21-year-old singer Melovin will perform the song “Under the Ladder” in the second semi-final on May 10.

The fan zone in Kyiv will work from May 3 until May 16 and will hold a number of events.

The fan zone will broadcast the contest’s semi-finals and final live on a big screen. Fans are welcome to bring friends or meet other fans and enjoy the atmosphere together.

During the two-week period, the visitors will have an opportunity to visit an exhibition of awards and outfits of Ukrainian singers who participated in the song contest in different years including the costumes of musicians from the O.Torvald rock band, as well as dresses of singers Ruslana, Alyosha, Zlata Ognevich and Gaitana.

The organizers plan to hold meetings and autograph sessions with Ukrainian celebrities, the time and dates of which will be announced later.

Thematic lectures by show business experts will also take place at the fan zone. Rock band Kozak System, which took part in the national selection for Eurovision 2018, will talk about the selection and share tips about participating.

Creative director of Ukraine’s biggest music festival Аtlas Weekend Vlad Fisun and the head of the festival White Nights Iryna Viter will give advice to young performers about how to get a chance to perform on a festival stage.

Apart from that, visitors will have a chance to participate in dancing, vocals and Portuguese language workshops, as well as find out more about this year’s Eurovision participants and the history of the contest in an interactive zone.
