Ukrainian electro-folk band Go_A has enjoyed a great deal of international attention ever since it placed fifth in this year’s Eurovision finale.

In the latest spin on the success ride, Go_A’s Eurovision song “Shum” entered the global chart of U.S. magazine Billboard, making history as the first Ukrainian-language song to make it into the list.

“Incredible news!” Go_A wrote on Facebook on June 2.

Billboard is a popular U.S. magazine that covers music and is known worldwide for its charts, The Hot 100, 200 and Global 200.

“Shum” has climbed to 80th place on Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S., the weekly updated list that ranks top songs internationally based on digital sales and online streaming data collected from outside the U.S.

The 2021 Eurovision winner Italian rock group Måneskin’s song “Zitti E Buoni” is currently in 11th place on the same chart. It is topped by South Korean boy band BTS and their English-language single “Butter.”

Go_A’s hit is also featured on two other Billboard charts: It ranks 27th on the Hot Dance/Electronic list and 12th on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.

“Ukrainian music is popular all over the world!” the band’s Facebook post reads.

In late May, Go_A topped the global Viral 50 chart of songs that are quickly gaining popularity. The Viral 50 chart is produced by Spotify, the world’s biggest music streaming service. Go_A’s song is still first in the ranking.

Go_A earned the second-highest number of audience televotes at Eurovision’s final stage on May 22, but the international jury’s votes brought the band down to fifth place

“Shum” mixes traditional Ukrainian vocals and instruments with modern electronic beats. It was inspired by the folklore of Ukraine’s northern Polissia region, where people would welcome spring after a cold and long winter by making some noise, or “shum” in Ukrainian.
