You're reading: Kyiv City Council assigns additional Hr 25 million for holding Eurovision

Members of Kyiv City Council have adopted amendments to the city budget for 2017, allocating among other things almost Hr 25 million for the holding of the Eurovision 2017 song contest, including Hr 19 million in fulfillment of the plans for installing video surveillance systems in the contest locations.

“We also pledged Hr 5 million for the purchase of litter bins… Another Hr 500,000 will be used to attract volunteers. Hr 125,000 will be used to improve the territory of the ‘Kyiv Fortress’ National History and Cultural Museum. This is one of the entertainment areas of the song contest,” the city council’s press service quoted the chairman of the budgetary commission of Kyiv City Council, Andriy Strannikov, as saying.

The decision was supported by 69 members of the council.
