Dress up in green, get a beer and learn Irish dances at one of Kyiv’s pubs and restaurants on St. Patrick’s Day, which is celebrated on March 17.

O’Brien’s Irish Pub

O’Brien’s Irish Pub in the heart of Kyiv will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with live music: Ukrainian bands Bis-Quit and Ghurt-yoghurt will entertain guests from 9 p. m. O’Brien’s serves traditional Irish beer and ciders for around Hr 110 for a glass. The deposit for St. Patrick’s Day celebration is Hr 150.

Golden Gate

Golden Gate pub kicks off an Irish themed party devoted to St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. The pub promises a free glass of green beer to each visitor wearing a green item of clothing. There also will be live music with Ukrainian rockers Kontrabanda playing their own hits and covers of popular songs. Entry is free, but the deposit to book a table is Hr 300 per person. The pub will also have a pre-party on March 16, with Waves Band playing covers of popular songs.

Docker pub

Irish music fans can have beer while listening to ethno rock Irish hits performed by Ukrainian cover band Fram, who combine bagpipes with female vocals. The band will make a tour of Ukraine devoted to St. Patrick’s Day and perform in Kyiv’s Docker pub on March 17 at 9 p. m. A ticket for either the fan zone or a table costs Hr 125, while a seat at the bar costs Hr 150.

Bochka

Another good way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day might be with the Ukrainian band ShamRocks, who blend Irish, Scottish, Breton, Finnish and other types of folk music with metal and rock tunes. The band will perform at Bochka art pub a day before the actual holiday, on March 16. ShamRocks combine traditional melodies played on the violin, mandolin, flute, and accordion with rock guitar riffs. Apart from musical performances, the pub offers more than 10 types of beer for only around Hr 40 per glass.

Whisky Corner

Whisky Corner restaurant, which calls itself a Scottish corner in Kyiv, celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with green beer, discounts on Irish whiskey and oysters, games and competitions, and the More Huana band playing covers of songs by popular Irish bands such as U2. The place also serves traditional Scottish dishes such as haggis — a pudding made from sheep’s heart, liver and lungs, onion, oatmeal, suet, and spices, stuffed in a sheep’s stomach. The restaurant also has an impressive whisky bar, with nearly 800 types from Ireland, Scotland, Japan, the United States, Canada, France, and other countries.

Crown on Hay

For those who manage to get through all the celebrations mentioned above, there is the option for a St. Patrick’s Day dancing after-party at the Crown on Hay pub on March 18. Visitors are invited to learn how to dance traditional Irish jigs by teachers from La Rêverie dance school. The dancing class starts at 2 p. m.
