You're reading: MARUV ready to stop touring in Russia

The winner of Ukraine’s national competition Eurovision-2019 MARUV (Anna Korsun) is ready to stop touring in Russia, but she is confused with other parts of the agreement offered to her by National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA:PBC).

“You probably already heard about the agreement between the participant from Ukraine and UA:PBC, which should be signed today before dinner. I am ready to refuse to sing in Russia. I answered all questions that interested the jury live. I have not visited Crimea since 2014. I did not violate a single law of Ukraine. I am also ready to bear all the costs of participating in the International Competition,” she said on Facebook.

Korsun cited as an example other provisions of the contract provided to her, among which she points out the following: prohibition of any improvisation on the stage without the approval of UA:PBC, immediate transfer of copyrights for the song, belonging to Warner Music label, precise fulfillment of any requirements and instructions of UA:PBC, prohibition to communicate with journalists without the consent of UA:PBC,” and more absurd requirements.”

She said there is a Hr 2 million penalty if she breaks any of the conditions of the contract, adding that the contract does not provide for any financial or organizational support from the UA:PBC.

“I feel pressure! And I see obvious attempts to make me refuse to represent my country at the international Eurovision Song Contest 2019,” she said.

As earlier reported, on February 23, MARUV won first place at the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision 2019 and can represent Ukraine at the song contest in Tel Aviv in May 2019.

At the end of the final, she received 11 points out of 12 possible. The jury members put the singer five points, according to the results of the audience voting, MARUV received a maximum of 6 points.

Freedom-jazz girls band placed second with 10 points.

KAZKA received eight points and took third place.

YUKO and Brunettes Shoot Blondes divided the fourth and fifth places, receiving a total of five points each.

ANNA MARIA placed sixth, with three points.

MARUV received a contract from UA:PBC for familiarization, which prohibits touring in the Russian Federation. MARUV was given one day to get acquainted with all the conditions of the contract and to announce her decision.
