You're reading: Top 5 Instagram accounts of Ukrainian pets

To scratch a pet’s belly and to provide it with a meal is apparently not enough for being considered a loving pet owner anymore.

Ukrainians now create Instagram accounts for their cats and dogs, using their blogs to raise money for charity, advertise handmade products or just for fun.

The Kyiv Post has picked the most popular Ukrainian animals’ accounts on Instagram.

Monty

Monty, a 4-year-old Labrador from Ukraine, is represented on Instagram as Mr. Montgomery Burns, and he has over 36,000 subscribers.

His career has started from his puppy photos as his owners wanted to save memories of Monty growing up.  American company of pet-themed products BarkBox noticed dog’s charisma and now Monty is the face of the brand. As a payment, he gets a box with dog toys from the company every month.

Monty also poses for photos wearing bow ties and bandanas for dogs, produced by his owners and shipped worldwide.

Someone starts a week with coffee, someone starts it with sticks and I am starting the week with my new @BarkBox ! ???

Chapati

Chapati, a homeless dog from India, has recently found something more precious than 18,000 followers on her Instagram page – a home.

She became popular after being rescued by a Kyiv family from Indian streets.

Her owners wanted to name her after something authentically Indian, so they called her Chapati, which in Hindi means thin unleavened Indian bread.

Together with her owners, Chapati has already traveled around the half of Asia.

Bannon

The Instagram account of Ukrainian cat Bannon is the evidence that a paralyzed cat can be happy.

“I have a broken spine, but I’m still a cat!” his Instagram page, followed by over 10,000 people, says.

When Bannon was younger, street dogs have broken his back. Now the cat is partially immobile, but his account shows that he lives a colorful life.

The only thing that bothers Bannon is his plump cheeks, so he promises to eat less.

First Sunday of summer is awesome. Lake, ducks and parents ?

Alabama

An Instagram page of the English bull-terrier Alabama from Kyiv aims to dispel the myth about the aggressiveness of this dog breed.

Despite just entertaining her 4,000 followers by being cute and adorable, Alabama also inspires her owner Anna Gavryliuk, who is an illustrator. The bull-terrier is the face of brand ALBMA dream that offers accessories, notebooks, and cups for bull-terrier fans.

Pet owner donates all the money earned from sales made through Alabama’s Instagram to shelters for dogs.

Agamemnon

Pug Agamemnon, named after the mythical Greek king, has almost 2,500 fans on Instagram and represents himself as the Tsar of Mycenae and Kyiv. According to his page, there are three things Agamemnon can do forever: looking at food, sniffing his carpet and fighting with his owner Yuriy Marchenko, the chief editor of Platfor.ma, for a workplace.

Last year the dog received the National Oscar from Ukraina TV channel.
