You're reading: Ukrainian artists to raise money for ventilators with online music shows

Ukraine’s hottest music artists are teaming up in a series of online shows that aim to raise Hr 18 million ($667,300) to buy 24 ventilators, one for each Ukrainian oblast. Their end goal is to save lives amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

As of April 30, there have been 10,406 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine. In total, 261 people have died from the disease and 1,238 recovered in the country.

“The goal of the project is to save 2,000+ lives in the coming months, and, in the long run, to save tens of thousands of lives and emotionally support our fellow citizens,” the organizers, the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, the Zagoriy Foundation and the OMG Agency, said in a press release.

Ukrainian rappers Alyona Alyona and the band Kalush will perform at the first online show on May 2. They will be joined by pop and R&B diva Nastya Kamenskykh (NK) and the SKAI pop-rock band.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Kyiv time and will be broadcast live at www.dp2020.com.ua/online-concert/.

But one can already donate. The charity project has so far raised Hr 480,256 ($17,800).

Two more shows will take place on May 9 and 16, but the artists performing have not been announced yet.

But the future line-up should be just as impressive, since over 270 Ukrainian artists and bloggers have publicly supported the initiative. Among them are Monatik, TNMK, Jerry Heil, Alina Pash, Freel, Tvorchi, DJ Nastia and many others.
