Secretary of State John Kerry visited Russia on May 12 and had meetings with President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Lavrov gave Kerry two baskets of local vegetables as a welcome present.
The visit had what Western media called “softer rhetoric” between the
two nations’ representatives. American and Russian relations have sunk
to post-Cold War lows because of the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine.
