On Nov. 10 parliament failed to pass the law that would ban discrimination at the workplace, therefore pushing back Ukraine’s aspiration to have a visa-free regime with European Union. Pro-European party Samopomich was criticised for not supporting the law.

Critics said that the party hesitated to vote because part of the law
bans discrimination of homosexuals. On Nov. 15 party head Andriy Sadoviy
runs for mayor re-election in Lviv, a city with a prevailing Christian
community. The law was eventually adopted on Nov. 12, with half of the
Samopomich party supporting it.
