The bankruptcy of Avant Bank in late January had an unexpected consequence.
Since the bank was in charge of processing payments for inquiries to the State Register of Property, its outage made it nonfunctional. The register became accessible to the public in 2015, which caused a lot of trouble to state officials whose valuable properties didn’t match up with thier low official incomes.
Ukrainian media reports have identified former Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema as the unofficial co-owner of the bank.
