Early in March, the European Union gave Ukraine’s leadership two weeks to solve the political crisis and put together a new parliamentary coalition. But parliament and President Petro Poroshenko are having a hard time agreeing on a candidate to replace Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who has demanded to be “sacked or backed” – meaning fired or supported. Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Groysman, a Porosehenko loyalist, were named as top candidates for the job.
