The authorities suspect lawmaker Oleksandr Onishchenko is the main beneficiary of a series of corrupt gas sales that channeled Hr 3 billion from a state-owned gas company Ukrgazvydobuvannya.
Onishchenko left Ukraine when the prosecutors asked the parliament to
allow his arrest, but came back immediately after parliament went on a
two-week break. He is suing prosecutors for slander.
