Some 3.8 million pupils, including 414,000 first graders, went to school as the academic year kicked off on Sept. 1.
Ukraine Education Minister Serhiy Kvit said the following in a greeting to students on the reneweal of the academic year: “Education is an investment in the future, the foundation of a successful career and a decent life. Our children’s fate, and that of the country’s, will depend on the knowledge that they will gain. That is why the government of Ukraine continues to reform education, aimed to reach European levels of knowledge.”
