On the night of April 11, thousands of Orthodox faithful came to big Kyiv cathedrals to pray before the great holiday of Easter, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God in the Christian faith. Bishops blessed the worshipers and their baskets of bread and other goods with holy water. In the evening Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over Easter mass at the St. Volodymyr Cathedral (Kyiv Patriarchate).
