An English-language lesson in Ukraine for the record books?

On May 28, thousands of people in 55 cities of Ukraine took English classes, organized by the GoGlobal English-language initiative and the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

The idea of the GoGlobal lesson was to win the Guinness World Records in the category of largest in terms of attendance lesson in English. The previous record, since 2006, went to Germany, which gathered 6287 people.

In Kyiv’s St. Sophia Square and in Lviv at the square near the Opera House, several thousand people gathered. A 35-minute lesson in the format of conversational club was held at 104 sites in 55 cities, including Vinnytsia, Odessa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, White Church, Poltava, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Kamensky (Dneprodzerzhinsk) and Kharkov.

The results of the lesson will be published at the end of June by the Guinness Book Committee.

Ukraine declared 2016 as the year of English language.
