The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest started in Kyiv on May 7.

Even though the delegations from the 41 participating countries have arrived in Kyiv long before to start rehearsals, the contest officially opened with a red carpet walk and an opening show at the Parkovy Concert Hall on May 7.

The first Eurovision event after the opening is the grand rehearsal of the first semi-final, to take place on May 8. The two semi-finals will take place on May 9 and May 11, with 20 semi-final winners making it to the grand final on May 13, where six countries already wait for them: last year’s winner Ukraine, and the Big Five who founded the Eurovision contest – UK, Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.
