People turned out for a farewell ceremony for 7 soldiers killed in fighting with Russian-backed forces near the Donetsk Oblast city of Avdiyivka. The ceremony was held on Independence Square on Feb. 1. More than 10,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine started in 2014. (2017)
