About 250 of Kyivans rallied on June 2 at the Kyiv’s main Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square to show their support of Crimean filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, jailed in Russia.
People were holding posters with demands to release Sentsov as a part of the worldwide campaign held on June 1-2.
Sentenced in Russia for 20 years as a result of a sham trial, Sentsov is being kept in a prison in Labytnangi, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous region in Russia’s far north.
He remains on the 20th day of a hunger strike, which he announced to draw attention to more than 70 Ukrainian political prisoners kept in Russian jails.
